-
Recommended for grades 4-5. Students will learn new rhythms including sixteenth, dotted quarter and dotted eighth notes. Ledger lines will be introduced to expand the notes of the grad staff. Melodic and harmonic intervals will be expanded upon to include triads. Students will master all major scales and key signatures along with the Circle of Fifths.

Minor and diminished chords and chord inversions will be added to the repertoire. Students will begin crafting melodies and transposing to new keys.

Students will be able to classify intervals by type and size. Emphasis will be placed on melody creation in both major and minor keys. Four-part harmonic analysis and general voice-leading rules will also be discussed.
-
Recommend for grades 11-12. Students will add augmented chords to their repertoire. All chords will be able to be inverted to 1st and 2nd inversion. Expand from score analysis to writing in four-parts using proper voice leading rules. Learn the differences between monophonic, homophonic and polyphonic music; musical form; Sonatina analysis; and modes.

Sight singing is recommended for voice students and those in school choir. Singers will progress through:
-
An introduction to singing technique and basic pitch placement using “The Body Scale” (ear training with movement).Learn basic rhythm using syllables and “pre-reading” pictorial note representation. Grow with movement and story-based activities.
